Prague in Spring: Blossoms, Fewer Crowds, and Unpredictable Weather

Spring is when Prague quietly rewards patience. Petřín Hill's Seminary Garden — over 2,000 fruit trees planted in the 1930s — turns into a sea of white and pink blossom for a couple of weeks in April, and it's still one of the least crowded ways to see the city from above.

There's a real Czech tradition tied to it: couples are supposed to kiss under the blooming trees on May 1st for good luck. Locals take it seriously enough that Petřín gets genuinely busy that one afternoon — worth avoiding if you just want a quiet walk.

Pack for both seasons in one day. March and April swing from bright sun to sudden rain, sometimes within the same walk across Charles Bridge — a light rain jacket earns its space in the bag more than any single outfit choice.

The upside of shoulder season: shorter lines at the Castle and Astronomical Clock, and restaurant terraces reopening without the summer wait for a table.
